<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="storycontent"><strong>Warning: this article is for newbies!</strong> What you need:</p>
<p>1) <a href="http://www.nvu.com/index.php">NVU</a> (WYSIWYG HTML editor)<br />
2) <a href="http://www.smartftp.com/">SmartFTP</a><br />
3) A domain name<br />
4) A web host</p>
<p>Total Estimated cost: $18.00</p>
<p><strong>First, you need a niche</strong>. Pick a specific topic — a hobby, industry, or market. The most important thing right now, if this is your first site, pick a topic that you can write about off the top of your head. If you like the topic, even better.</p>
<p><strong>Keyword research</strong> must be done before you start writing articles. I used to use Overture’s free <a href="http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/">Keyword Selector Tool</a>. Now I prefer the pay service, <a href="http://www.wordze.com/">Wordze</a>.</p>
<p>What you want to do is look at the top keywords and make sure you have a specific page for each. Also, try to branch out beyond your main keyword if possible.<a id="more-46"></a></p>
<p><strong>Take a list of the top 15 keywords and write 15 articles</strong>, roughly 5-6 paragraphs for each. Repeat the keyword or keyphrase several times in the article, but don’t go overboard.</p>
<p>Now open NVU and <strong>create an HTML template</strong>. I’m not going to turn this into a basic tutorial for making a website, you can find that on thousands of other web sites. Create a table roughly 700 pixels wide, add a 160 pixel column to the right side.</p>
<p>Now paste the articles you wrote into the left, wider, column. Save each file as key-phrase.htm. In the right column link to all the articles you wrote.</p>
<p>Its time to <strong>find a domain name</strong>. You want your main topic in the name. One tool you can use for ideas is <a href="http://www.domainsbot.com/labs/searchcloud/">DomainsBot Search Cloud</a>. Personally, I seem to get the best names out of my head now. {keyphrase} + {wierd word} tends to work well, and you’ll get the dot com.</p>
<p><strong>You need a web host</strong>. At this stage you are looking for a virtual hosting account. This would typically be priced between $6-$10 a month. The files will be uploaded with your FTP program. Make sure the front page is named index.htm, and any index.html or index.php files are deleted.</p>
<p>You do not need to pay anyone to be indexed by Google, Yahoo, and other search engines. What <strong>you need is backlinks pointing to your new site</strong>! If you are a good writer and your articles aren’t garbage this won’t be too difficult. Wikipedia is a first shot (if its a big topic your link will probably be deleted), you can try DMOZ (don’t expect much). Directory submissions can push you past the 12 hour mark, but check out <a href="http://www.directorycritic.com/">Directory Critic</a> for one of the best lists online of free directories.</p>
<p>The newest way to get backlinks is from blogs. You can do a search on <a href="http://technorati.com/">Technorati</a> for blog posts on your topics. Write something unique for every post, at least 2 paragraphs. “Great blog!” isn’t going to cut it; I delete those all the time. If it looks like a poster actually bothered to write something insightful and the link doesn’t point to cheap viagra, I usually approve the comment.</p>
<p>This is the quick and dirty way to building a web site. <strong>The point is not to have a good website — the point is to <em>have a website</em></strong>. This is precisely how I started in the business. Drive-by content sites tend to not make a whole lot of money. In high value markets you are going to have a tough time competing with the guys spending $10,000 a month on paid text backlinks. With the type of site I just described, $300 a month is reasonable expectation. This is your starting point. You need to get familiar with rapidly building and deploying sites. You need to learn to allocate your time to the elements responsible for bringing in the money.</p>
<p>In the following days or weeks I will write about how to create a good content site. This includes — user submitted content, cheap content, forums, blogs, and e-mail newsletters. I have been drifting away from the content side of the business and I am now comfortable sharing my “secrets.” If you can’t wait, then check out <a href="http://websitepublisher.net/">WebsitePublisher.net</a>.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif"> Domain Parking News was first published one year ago this month. We&#8217;ve been keeping domain </span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif">professionals up-to-date on how to monetize their domains through </span><span style="font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 8pt"><span style="font-size: 10pt"> various pay-per-click parking services for a full year. In that time a number of changes have taken place in the industry. Pay-per-click is still king, but click-fraud looms as a future threat to this model. New ways to monetize names are emerging.</span></span></p>
<p><a id="more-45"></a> We will continue to keep you up-to-date on changes in the PPC services, but we will also explore tools for developing your domains and new monetization models. Stay tuned for another great year!</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 10pt"><span style="font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold; color: #1e90ff"> News from the Parking Services</span><br />
</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif"><a target="_blank" href="http://parkquick.com/aa"><br />
</a> ActiveAudience.com has been upgraded to &#8220;recommended&#8221; status at ParkQuick.com, along with their sister site GoldKey.com ( a sister of Activeaudience ) Both of these services provide above-average search engine retention. Active Audience is a bit more selective, and they offer more services and a better choice of parking pages.</span></p>
<p>NameDrive.com has an interesting feature that is easy to miss. If you view your domain portfolio settings (&#8221;Domain Portfolio&#8221; tab, and &#8220;Settings&#8221; tab) you will see small magnifying glass icons toward the middle of the page (between &#8216;keyword&#8217; and &#8216;header&#8217;). Click on one of these and you will see a preview of how your domain looks - along with a number of different options of how it might look. You can change the settings and see the result in real time, then apply the changes for real if you like them. Traffic and income seem steady there.</p>
<p>Parking Dots.com has added video to their site! You&#8217;ll either love it or<span style="font-size: 10pt" /><span style="font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 8pt"><span style="font-size: 10pt"> hate it. Their homepage has a video of an attractive woman telling you all about their service. It is a flash video that does not slow things down at all, and it is easy to silence. You won&#8217;t find it on the sign-up page, you&#8217;ll have to go to the home page. They continue to offer 80% of their income for parking, and 100% if they lease the domain.</span></span></p>
<p>TrafficZ.com reported that they added even more graphic banner selections. They didn&#8217;t mention what category they are in, though, and I can&#8217;t find them. They had a few database problems in July, stating on 7/23: &#8220;Uniques and searches are not up to date in your Domain Manager at the moment. All traffic and revenue is being tracked on our system&#8230;.You will begin to see this backlogged data updating as we continue our database maintenance.&#8221; I take this as a sign that they are continuing to grow. They remain one of the few services that allow you to include your links and content on their parking pages.</p>
<p>DomainSponsor.com reported that they &#8220;experienced some problems with the optimization system&#8221; over the July 22-23rd weekend. They continue to pay quickly.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 10pt"> Services like Moniker&#8217;s Traffic Club will split your traffic and send it to different companies. Did you know that you can also do this yourself? One feature of DomainSpa.com is that they allow you to enter account information (not passwords, of course) for other parking companies into your account at Domain Spa. Any traffic that comes from a country that DomainSpa doesn&#8217;t monetize will automatically go to the other service(s) you enter. I&#8217;m having pretty good luck splitting this traffic between DomainSpa and DomainSponsor. DomainSpa was having a problem with payments that they made through PayPal at one time, but this has been cleared-up.</span></p>
<p><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- var prefix = '&amp;#109;a' + 'i&amp;#108;' + '&amp;#116;o'; var path = 'hr' + 'ef' + '='; var addy70141 = 'p&amp;#97;rkq&amp;#117;&amp;#105;ck' + '&amp;#64;'; addy70141 = addy70141 + 'gm&amp;#97;&amp;#105;l' + '&amp;#46;' + 'c&amp;#111;m'; var addy_text70141 = ' email if you are interested'; document.write( '<a ' + path + '\'' + prefix + ':' + addy70141 + '\'>&#8216; ); document.write( addy_text70141 ); document.write( &#8216;<\/a>&#8216; ); //&#8211;>\n </script><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- document.write( '<span style=\'display: none;\'>&#8216; ); //&#8211;> </script><span style="display: none">This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- document.write( '</' ); document.write( 'span>&#8216; ); //&#8211;> </script></span> Sedo.com Pro service is providing steady income, thanks in part to their more attractive parking pages. The &#8220;regular&#8221; Sedo program is still a good bet for holders of smaller domain portfolios, especially if they have international traffic. The Pro Service requires an invitation from a current member, so .<span style="font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 8pt"><span style="font-size: 10pt"> TrafficParking.com switched email providers during July and a lot of email sent to them got filtered as spam. Rumors began concerning their financial health, but were quickly quashed when the email glitch was identified. They report that they are sound financially and they continue to do especially with UK and other European traffic.</span></span></p>
<p><strong> So here what recommented ???</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 10pt"><span style="font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt">* <span style="font-weight: bold; font-size: 10pt">If you have at least 50 - 100 domains:</span><br />
Apply for accounts at ActiveAudience.com and ParkingDots.com if you expect your domains to make over $50 a week. They pay the highest percentage. ActiveAudience may improve search engine performance of your domains if you use their nameservers.</span></span></p>
<p><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- var prefix = '&amp;#109;a' + 'i&amp;#108;' + '&amp;#116;o'; var path = 'hr' + 'ef' + '='; var addy94815 = 'p&amp;#97;rkq&amp;#117;&amp;#105;ck' + '&amp;#64;'; addy94815 = addy94815 + 'gm&amp;#97;&amp;#105;l' + '&amp;#46;' + 'c&amp;#111;m'; var addy_text94815 = ' email'; document.write( '<a ' + path + '\'' + prefix + ':' + addy94815 + '\'>&#8216; ); document.write( addy_text94815 ); document.write( &#8216;<\/a>&#8216; ); //&#8211;>\n </script><script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- document.write( '<span style=\'display: none;\'>&#8216; ); //&#8211;> </script><span style="display: none">This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- document.write( '</' ); document.write( 'span>&#8216; ); //&#8211;> </script></span> Apply at DomainSponsor.com if the domains are likely to sell a product Online. SedoPro is also a strong choice, and is highly recommended for international domains. (Send an to get an endorsement code for SedoPro.) Consider TrafficZ.com for nice looking and flexible parking pages. Check out other pages of this site for more on the strengths and weaknesses of these services. ActiveAudience and TrafficZ have the best parking pages, but others are catching up.</p>
<p>* <span style="font-weight: bold; font-size: 10pt">If you have less than 50 domains:</span><br />
Park your domains at Sedo.com	and/or NameDrive.com for almost instant results. Apply for a Gold Key.com account and try some domains there too. Some domains do dramatically better at Gold Key. As mentioned above. Sedo is best for International traffic. Sedo and NameDrive use Google/AdWords ads, while Gold Key uses Yahoo/Overture. Gold Key can provide search engine traffic, and their parking pages look better. Their site takes a while to learn.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span class="postbody"> Google Adsense is perhaps the easiest way to attract advertisers from across the globe to your blog. Just submit your blog to Google for approval. If Google likes what it sees, it will place contextual ads linking to products likely to appeal to the readers. Each time a reader clicks a link, the advertiser pays Google a small fee, and Google splits that with you. <a id="more-44"></a></p>
<p>The next interesting question - How to Make Money with Google Adsense ? Here are The best Google Adsense Tips and Tricks for making more money (profit) from Google adsense program.</p>
<p>a. Strictly follow the rules mentioned in Adsense policies. You will always earn more revenue from Adsense by playing it clean.</p>
<p>b. Never modify the Google Adsense HTML code.</p>
<p>c. Don&#8217;t ask your friends or visitors to click on your Google ads. Do not include incentives of any kind for users to click on ads. Don&#8217;t label the Google ads with text other than &#8220;sponsored links&#8221; or &#8220;advertisements.&#8221;.</p>
<p>d. Don&#8217;t click on your own ads - Google is much smarter than you think. You should not reload your pages excessively. If you are testing your website layout with Google adsense, follow some precautions. Or you can use the unofficial Google Adsense Sandbox Tool that is accessible from Firefox, IE and other browsers to see what kind of Google ads will be served based on content (website address URL) or keywords.</p>
<p>e. Don&#8217;t place ads in pop-up windows, error pages or even empty pages.</p>
<p>f. Don&#8217;t start a &#8220;adsense asbestos&#8221; or &#8220;home equity loan rates&#8221; website merely to make money from accidental clicks (accidence). You will never make money out these &#8220;made-for-adsense-only&#8221; websites. Instead, write on topics what you are passionate about. Don&#8217;t waste your money on high-paying adsense keywords lists.</p>
<p>g. For short articles, CTR is best when ads are placed just above the content</p>
<p>h. For long articles, CTR improves if ads are placed somewhere in middle of the content - visitors read the long content and then they are looking for more resources.</p>
<p>i. Use Text Ads instead of Image Ads as users get more options. If you still want to display image ads, consider ad formats that support image ads - Choose either the 300&#215;250 medium rectangle or the 160&#215;600 wide skyscraper - or both, if you display multiple ad units on a page.</p>
<p>j. Google Ads without background color and borders always perform better. Make the border color and background color same as your page background color.</p>
<p>k. Always put ads above the main fold. Make sure that the ad unit with the highest clickthrough rate is the first instance of the ad code that appears in the HTML. Since the first ad unit is always filled before the rest, you want to make sure that ad unit is located in the best placement on your page.</p>
<p>l. Try setting the ad link URL color to a lighter shade. If your text is black, you may make the adlink as light gray.</p>
<p>m. Go Wide - The large rectangle is the best paying adsense format (336&#215;280) - The Google Adsense Publisher team also feels that the best formats are the wider ones - the ad formats that contain the widest individual ads. Try using the 336&#215;280 large rectangle, 300&#215;250 medium rectangle, or 160&#215;600 wide skyscraper.</p>
<p>n. Placing images next to ads or above ads does help in attracting user attention.</p>
<p>o. Blend AdLinks with other navigation links or place horizontal adlinks at the top of your webpage. AdSense publishers are permitted to click on link unit topics on their web pages, provided that they do not click on any Google ads on the resulting page.</p>
<p>p. Organize an Adsense Party for your friends and colleagues - Request them to navigate your website, watch their activity - it will provide vital clues about which regions on your website draw more user attention. Try putting ads near those areas. (Thanks Darren)</p>
<p>q. You can put upto 3 adsense units on a page. Try putting a large skyscraper on the right navigation sidebar of your website. That area is close to the browser scrollbar. You can also add 2 AdSense for search boxes, 1 adlink unit and 1 referral button per product (i.e., 1 AdSense referral button and 1 Firefox plus Google Toolbar referral button).</p>
<p>r. The first few lines of your content are an important factor for determining what Ads are served on your webpage. That&#8217;s the right place to put keywords in bold (strong or &#038;ltb> tags) or header tags (h1, h2, etc).</p>
<p>s. Always select the setting to open Google Adsense search box results in a new browser window, so you won&#8217;t lose your visitors. Click the Open search results in a new browser window checkbox and this add target=&#8221;google_window&#8221; to your form tag.</p>
<p>t. Maximum people think the search box is on the top right corner. So you know where to put it.</p>
<p>u. Don&#8217;t syndicate full content. If people can read everything from the newsreader window itself, why would they visit your website where your ads are.</p>
<p>v. Use URL channels to determine performance of individual pages. I track my most popular pages with Google Analytics, Statcounter and create a channel for each of the URL. You can even track Adsense Clicks with Analytics</p>
<p>w. For low CTR pages, try changing titles or adding more content to get better focused ads</p>
<p>x. Block low paying advertisers with Filters. Why to loose a visitor for 0.01 cents. Use Overture or Google Adwords Keywords tool to discover keywords that are less popular with advertisers.</p>
<p>y. The AdSense for search Top Queries report shows you what your users are looking for, by listing the 25 most common searches conducted through your AdSense for search boxes. Use this report to identify additional topics to add to your site, or to keep track of your most sought-after information. Focus and improve that content.</p>
<p>z. Not everyone has a RSS reader. Use RSS to Email services like FeedBlitz, Bloglet or Rmail to let users subscribe to your blog by email.</p>
<p>Remember, you are the best judge when it comes to choosing ad formats. Even Google doesn&#8217;t offer the best advise always. For instance, in the visual heat map, Google suggests that webmasters are best served by positioning ads on the upper left-hand side of a Web page. But on the Google homepage, you will find ads on the far right.</p>
<p>AdSense is one of the best tools you can use to draw dollars to your site. Remember that there is no easy way to make money on Adsense&#8230; it takes a lot of work. Adsense publishers on blogspot.com can integrate Adsense directly from Blogger Interface.</p>
<p>Yahoo Publisher Network YPN and Chitika eMiniMalls offer interesting Adsense alternatives. You can use this free online Sandbox tool to compare Google Adsense, Chitika eMiniMalls and Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN) Program.</p>
<p>Enter any keywords or a website address (URL), choose a geographic location (for Google), customize ad colors or choose from an existing color set and click &#8220;Udate Ads Display&#8221;. You can try the Adsense, YPN or Chitika Services without signing up for any of these services. </span></p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong><span class="storyDek">How do you make your Web site &#8220;organically&#8221; pop up in the first five results of a potential customer&#8217;s Web search? Elastic Path Software&#8217;s Jason Billingsley offers three suggestions for improving a site&#8217;s organic search results.<br />
</span></strong></p>
<p><span class="byline" />Ten times as much money is spent on paid ads on search services like Google as is invested in search engine optimization, yet both methods convert browsers to buyers at approximately the same rate, according to Jason Billingsley, vice president of e-commerce technology vendor Elastic Path Software. What&#8217;s more, he adds, free listings are clicked on up to 200 percent more often than paid ads.<span id="intelliTXT"><span class="featureText">How do you make your Web site &#8220;organically&#8221; pop up in the first five results of a potential customer&#8217;s Web search? Billingsley offers three suggestions for improving a site&#8217;s organic search results:<br />
<a id="more-43"></a><br />
</span></span></p>
<p><strong>1. Search-engine-optimize your press releases.</strong> A few services offer help. PRWeb, for instance, conducts keyword research to find at least two relevant search terms that a company&#8217;s target audiences are likely to use for a news search. It then edits the press release, optimizing it with the relevant search terms so it will rank well in Google News. PRWeb also builds links from a press release to relevant content on the company&#8217;s Web site. PR Newswire offers Search Engine Visibility, reports that let customers see what keyword combinations Web visitors used to arrive at their news releases. PR Newswire also lets customers see how many times news release readers took the next step and clicked through to the customer Web site from a URL embedded in the news release.</p>
<p><strong>2. Use Froogle.</strong> Free product inclusion into Google&#8217;s comparison shopping engine often brings surprisingly high-ranking results.</p>
<p><strong>3. Blog or otherwise contribute to community sites.</strong> &#8220;Writing rich content for syndication to sites pertaining to your field delivers traffic and increases search-engine optimization,&#8221; Billingsley says. &#8220;In fact, MySpace outpaces MSN at delivering shoppers.&#8221;</p>
<p>U.K.-based gift and gadget retailer I Want One of Those turned to search-engine optimization to get its site noticed. &#8220;Our previous Web site architecture had search-unfriendly URLs,&#8221; explains Sagar Vadher, the company&#8217;s head of IT. &#8220;The way that Google works, we would rank low.&#8221; Although every page on the site contained product information and keywords, the page URLs contained no keywords or product names. Instead they were &#8220;really horrible&#8221; alphanumeric strings containing unrecognizable product ID numbers. After using Elastic Path software to help rewrite the URLs, each page URL contains a category name and product name. &#8220;Having those terms right in the URL makes it simple for Google to find,&#8221; Vadher says.</p>
<p>Iwoot.com&#8217;s results are hard to calculate at this writing, as the site&#8217;s traffic is always high around the holidays, averaging 45,000 visitors per day. Also complicating measurement are brand awareness efforts that are driving visitors straight to the site, thus changing the usual ratio of search-driven results. &#8220;Most of the evidence is anecdotal, but I have seen an improvement in the way natural search works,&#8221; Vadher says. &#8220;We&#8217;re in the top four or five [results] for standard searches around gifts and gadgets. If you search for &#8216;racing grannies,&#8217; [which appears under the category &#8216;Kitsch and Daft&#8217;], we&#8217;re usually No. 1 or No. 2.&#8221; The most telling number has been the overall conversion rate of visitors into buyers. Where last year it averaged 2 percent, this year it&#8217;s 2.9 percent, almost a 50-percent increase. That&#8217;s a huge return on a small investment of time and effort. <em>&#8211;Penny Crosman</em>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>To continue with my earlier post, now I’m going to answer the second question asked by one of my readers. He asked me how to get traffic to his blog.</p>
<p>This is a common question everyone is asking whether he or she is just starting out or a regular blogger.</p>
<p>Regardless of your motivation for blogging, whether you do it to make money, or for the passion of writing and sharing knowledge or a little bit of both, traffic is the lifeblood of your blog.<br />
<a id="more-40"></a><br />
<strong>Start off on the right foot </strong></p>
<p>On the first few days of blogging, try to write something that attract people’s attention. If you could pull off a publicity stunt you can get more attention quickly.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, I didn’t do any stunt on my first day.</p>
<p>What I did was I tried to write about issues that could literally direct traffic to my blog instantly. For this, I checked the top search keywords at Technorati and wrote posts about them.</p>
<p>While this technique had spiked up my traffic before, I decided to stop using it completely. The reason was because such method totally diluted my focus and my posts strayed away far from my niche. Unless my blog is about popular keyword searches at Technorati, then there’s no point for me to continue doing this.</p>
<p>At the end of the day, all I got was empty traffic, traffic that didn’t make me any money and didn’t translate into repeat visitors.</p>
<p><strong>Tag your post </strong></p>
<p>Tag the important keywords in each of your post. I am using <a target="_blank" href="http://vapourtrails.ca/wp-keywords">Jerome’s Keywords plugin</a> for Wordpress to help me do this.</p>
<p>By default Technorati tag the Wordpress post category as keyword.</p>
<p>With Jerome’s Keywords, I can specify keywords to be tagged by <a href="http://www.technorati.com/tag/">Technorati </a> as you can see at the bottom of this post. Once installed, a keyword field is added into your Wordpress editor for entering and editing keywords.</p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>Leave your mark </strong></p>
<p>One easy way you can start receiving traffic right away is by leaving comments on other people blogs. If people read your comment, it’s likely that they’ll also be interested in you and might click on your link to learn more about you.</p>
<p>Another thing you can do is to link other blogs with <a target="_blank" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TrackBack%20">trackbacks</a>.</p>
<p>When you find some interesting post in a blog, blog about it in your blog and include a link to the original source to send it a trackback. The trackback URI is normally published in public somewhere on blogs which support it.</p>
<p>I can guarantee you that blog owners are always interested to know what people think about their posts. More often than not, they’ll click on the commentator’s URL or trackback link to view where it comes from.</p>
<p>I believe some of my readers have found Sabahan.com via trackback links from other blogs.</p>
<p><strong>Exchange links with other blogs </strong></p>
<p>Actively seek other blogs to link exchange with. Make sure that they are related to your niche. You might also want to setup a link exchange manager in your blog.</p>
<p><strong>Ping your posts </strong></p>
<p>Use <a target="_blank" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ping-server">ping services</a> to automatically notify blog search engines or blogging content aggregator each time a new post is published. Just be careful not to spam these services with repeated pinging, either with a duplicate or different post, within a short period of time.</p>
<p>I use several ping services including <a target="_blank" href="http://pingomatic.com/">PingOMatic</a> and <a target="_blank" href="http://www.petalingstreet.org/">PetalingStreet.org</a>.</p>
<p><strong>Post regularly </strong></p>
<p>Posting regularly gives your visitors a reason to return to your blog. Posting regularly is particularly paramount during the early development of your blog to build up your readership.</p>
<p>As time goes on, each post will continue to attract traffic from different sources such as the search engines and links from other blogs. You should notice your blog traffic increase steadily over time.</p>
<p>If you are unable to post, try not to go longer than a week without posting otherwise people will forget that you exist.</p>
<p>If you could write 100 posts each month, you’ll have 1200 posts in your blog after a year. By that time, you’ll have many pages that can act as entry points to your blog for the search engine to send traffic to.</p>
<p>Personally, I try to write between 3 to 6 posts daily. It’s hard work trying to come up with something useful, interesting and ‘unique’ and you only have a few hours in the evening to work on it.</p>
<p>To keep myself motivated, I try to write about things that interest me most. I also find it satisfying to share my experience and knowledge which hopefully will benefit other people.</p>
<p><strong>Leverage traffic from somewhere else </strong></p>
<p>If you already have a web presence, you can use your position to influence your current visitors to visit your blog.</p>
<p>You can also take advantage of the AdSense ads on your other sites.</p>
<p>Instead of showing the PSA (Public Service Ads) on your pages, replace them to show your own ads pointing to your new blog. You can learn more about <a target="_blank" href="http://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/static.py?page=alternateads.html">implementing alternate ad</a> here.</p>
<p><strong>Advertise with BlogAds or AdWords </strong></p>
<p>If you are willing to spend some money, you might want to give AdWords or BlogAds a try.</p>
<p><strong>Use online bookmarking services </strong></p>
<p>Bookmark your articles at <a target="_blank" href="http://del.icio.us/">del.icio.us</a> and other bookmarking services. You will get some traffic from other people who is subscribing or clicking on certain tags in your profile.</p>
<p>Although, you won’t enjoy any search engine advantage from sites such as del.icio.us since it’s using the no follow tag for all out going links. But that does not matter as long as you can get some traffic for free, right?</p>
<p><strong>Write high quality posts</strong></p>
<p>There’s no need to write long post, in fact some people will skip reading your blog entirely if it looks like work. What you really need is quality posts, while it does not have to be original, you should try to include opinions from your own perspective.</p>
<p>As some people may have guessed from the grammatical mistakes in my blog, English is actually my second language. However, I believe that shouldn’t be an excuse for me to write low quality posts.</p>
<p>My problem is that I have the tendency to just write what comes to my mind without thinking about the correct grammatical rules that I should use or without ensuring that my sentences flow naturally.</p>
<p>Yea I know, I need to polish up my writing skill and ‘beautify’ my grammar so I headed over to Amazon.com to look for some books to help me achieve this goal and I ended up purchasing these books which I hope would be helpful:</p>

</ul>
<p><strong>Create a buzz </strong></p>
<p>This comes hand in hand with writing high quality posts. If you could write something good enough to get on <a target="_blank" href="http://www.digg.com/">Digg</a> or <a target="_blank" href="http://www.slashdot.com/">Slashdot</a>, this would bring you thousands of visitors. Some people reported to receive over 30,000 visitors per day!</p>
<p>In addition to that, you will also get a few thousands links to your site.</p>
<p>Traffic building takes time and continuous effort before you could see the fruit of your labour, unless of course you are already famous.</p>
<p>The reality is that you have to be prepared to put in the hours. Most successful blogs don’t hit their strides until they are at least 12 months old, so keep that in mind when you feel like giving up.</p>
<p><strong>Have fun </strong></p>
<p>Instead of worrying too much about traffic, just remember to have fun too!

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Using Google AdSense is one of the most popular ways for bloggers to monetize their blog. In addition to the ease of use, AdSense offers a reliable source of income to many.</p>
<p>AdSense takes the confusion out of blog monetization and allows bloggers to concentrate on writing quality content instead of worrying about making money.<br />
<a id="more-39"></a><br />
Well, that’s the idea anyway.</p>
<p>Unfortunately most bloggers fail to earn a decent income from AdSense. Some bloggers end up waiting a year or two to reach the US100 threshold. Many more would never reach the $100 figure. As you may already know, AdSense publishers can only collect their check when it exceeds $100.</p>
<p>So what mystery is concealed behind blog monetization with AdSense that seems to prevent ordinary bloggers from earning decent income from it?</p>
<p>There’s no mystery. The following reasons might give you some ideas why your blog fail to make money from AdSense.</p>
<p><strong>1. You Are In The Wrong Niche </strong></p>
<p>If you write about your cat, or what you ate for breakfast this morning etc, you can’t expect to make a lot of money from AdSense, can you?</p>
<p>Personal blogs usually do not do well with AdSense simply because there’s no focus on any particular topic. On these pages, Google will show non-targeted ads which typical have low pay per click because of the poor conversion rate.</p>
<p>Traffic is also hard to come by, unless you are some kind of celebrity already or you know what you are talking about, it’s tough to build loyal followers to a personal blog.</p>
<p>While there’s nothing wrong writing about yourself, you’ll do better with AdSense if you write about a subject that your visitors want to read.</p>
<p>The subject you choose to write about determines the ad prices on your pages. Choose a specific niche and stick with it. However, do not select a niche simply because it’s popular or it has high earning potential. You’ll do better if your choice is based on your own interests or one that satisfies the need for such information.</p>
<p>Certain niches, such as the Internet marketing niche will likely generate lower click through rates because your marketing savvy audience knows what AdSense ads looks like and is less likely to click on your ads.</p>
<p>I wouldn’t recommend choosing a subject which is too narrowly focused. It may be easier to achieve top search engine rankings for less competitive terms and become the authority in that niche but if you plan to attract traffic from the organic search engines, it helps to cover a wider range of topics within a niche.</p>
<p>As an example, instead of focusing your subject on running shoes, try to widen your focus by including other sport shoes such as tennis shoes, running shoes, bowling shoes etc.</p>
<p><strong>2. You Don’t Have Enough Content </strong></p>
<p>You can’t expect to make money if your blog contains a few posts or you only post once or twice a month.</p>
<p>It’s important to maintain a consistent posting frequency in order to build up your content for the long run. The more pages you have, the better your chance to achieve top search rankings. This will draw in more traffic to your blog. Only when you have enough traffic can you expect to earn decent income from AdSense.</p>
<p>However, quantity is nothing without quality.</p>
<p>Google use something called ‘<a target="_blank" href="http://adsense.blogspot.com/2005/10/facts-about-smart-pricing.html">smart pricing</a>‘ as one of the factors when determining your ad price</p>
<p>The most successful AdSense pages are those with high quality, original content. This will not only attract the search engine but also attract other sites or blogs to link to yours.</p>
<p>Quality content draws relevant ads on your pages. Quality content usually equals a good experience for the user and advertiser. At the end of the day, this helps to increase your ad price.</p>
<p><strong>3. You’ve Got The Wrong Placement For Your Ads </strong></p>
<p>Another reason why you do not make money from your AdSense ads is because you have placed your ads outside the hot spots. The hot spots are places where the users pay the most attention to.</p>
<p>You have to understand where to position your ads to optimize their earning potential. Placing your ads above the fold, or the middle near the content is the location that gets the most of the attention.</p>
<p><img id="image38" alt="blogtimize_sm_en.jpg" src="http://www.xaluan.com/seodigger/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/blogtimize_sm_en.jpg" /><br />
Google has written a guide <a target="_blank" href="https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=43869">here</a> to help you optimize the ads on you blog.</p>
<p>But like everything else, you need to test to find what works best for you.</p>
<p><strong>4. You Are Using the Wrong Ad Units </strong></p>
<p>There are several ad and link units you can choose from. Each unit performs differently relative to your page design but in general the larger the ads the better it will perform.</p>
<p>Their best performing unit for according to Google is the large rectangle (336×280). Alternatively, you can go for the medium rectangle (300 x 250), Wide Skyscraper (160×600) etc. <a target="_blank" href="https://www.google.com/adsense/adformats">Click here</a> to see all AdSense ads formats.</p>
<p>Then again, you need to test to find what works best for you. The best performing ad unit will not perform well on a site if it does not suit the page layout.</p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>5. Nobody Is Reading Your Blog </strong></p>
<p>You have your mom, your sister, your friend and your friend’s friend reading your blog and you wonder why you are not making money from AdSense.</p>
<p>Traffic is the lifeblood of your blog. If you do everything right except getting traffic to your blog then you are already destined for failure.</p>
<p>Having a blog with the best content in the world means nothing if no one knows you even exist.</p>
<p>To get traffic, you need to promote and seek links to your blog. Blog promotion is a big topic. I’ve written an earlier post about getting traffic to you blog here.</p>
<p>It takes hard work and patience to build your blog for AdSense. Your success depends on how well you master each of the subjects above. It takes time to rise to the top and a steady and consistent effort will ensure your success isn’t a short term either.
</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It has always been inspiring to see other bloggers making real money from their blog.</p>
<p>One of the recent stories is that of John Chow over at JohnChow.com. What’s amazing about his story is that, he only started blogging last year (if I’m not mistaken) and only decided to monetize his blog in September 2006.<br />
<a id="more-37"></a><br />
Since then his blog has been enjoying a tremendous growth in income month after month.</p>
<p>He made $352.94 in September 2006, and five months after that his income had risen to $3,440.66!</p>
<p>In his post, John explains exactly where the money came from.</p>
<p>One thing for sure, only 16% of his total income derives from AdSense. So as it turns out, you do not have to put all your eggs in Google’s basket. You do know that don’t you?</p>
<p>If you want to have the chance to make as much as John, try to diversify your income sources but do it correctly, not in a way that sacrifices your user’s experience by cluttering your blog with ads. Study his blog and learn how he monetizes it.</p>
<p>I’ve observed something right off the bat, factors that seem to enable John’s blog to make that much money easily. He offers value to his readers with quality content and promotes his blog like crazy.</p>
<p>There’s no secret to making money from blogging, that’s all to it. Trust me <img alt=":)" class="wp-smiley" src="http://www.sabahan.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" /></p>
<p>While I don’t make as much as John from my blogs, I believe if we can get these two things right, I’ve no doubt that we can make as much as John Chow in a couple of months. LOL</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One of the ways you can increase your income from Google AdSense is by having well targeted ads that are relevant to your content displayed on your pages.</p>
<p>Google take care of this by using their search and page ranking technologies to deliver targeted ads. However, in certain situation you may want certain ads to appear which are related to one of you posts but not the overall page content.<br />
<a id="more-35"></a><br />
If your page content is written mainly in a language beside English, you’ll usually end up getting PSA (Public Service Ads) displayed which you won’t get paid for.</p>
<p>Google uses several factors to target ads on a website and they go beyond simple keyword matching to understand the context and content of web pages.</p>
<p>In improve your ads relevancy, you can do the followings:</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Put important keywords in the title<br />
</strong>This is by far one of the most important and easiest things you can do to target your ads</li>
<li><strong> Put keyword in the URL<br />
</strong>Google can guess what your page is all about by checking your URL. So put keywords some where in your URL by separating them using hyphens instead of using underscore.</li>
<li><strong> Put keyword in a heading<br />
</strong>This should include</p>
<h1>,</h1>
<h2>tags.</h2>
</li>
<li><strong> Put keyword in the first paragraph of your post </strong><strong> </strong></li>
<li><strong> Make you keyword bolded.<br />
</strong>You know, <strong>like this</strong>.</li>
<li><strong> Sprinkle your keyword all over your post.<br />
</strong>The word frequency can tell AdSense what your page is all about but do not go overboard with this.</li>
<li><strong> Use larger font for your keyword<br />
</strong>You can also use large font for your important keywords. Perhaps, include keywords in your navigation links with font size larger than that of the page content.</li>
<li><strong>Put keyword in your anchor text<br />
</strong>This can be an effective way to target pages content.</li>
</ol>
<p>The above tips should work well for most people but what if you have non-English content?</p>
<p>In such case, my suggestion is to add several paragraph written in English and use section targeting to target your ads. However, don’t expect Google to display targeted Adsense right away.</p>
<p>My experience from managing several of my websites with their content written mostly in Malay shows that section targeting start working after Googlebot has crawled my pages or Mediabot (crawler that Google uses to crawl those pages running Adsense) crawl results are added into Google natural search index.</p>
<p>According to Google, it may take up to 2 weeks before Google crawlers take into account any changes you’ve made to your site. That’s true from my own experience.</p>
<p>Section targeting allows you to emphasize or de-emphasize certain sections of your page. For example, you may want to emphasize the first paragraph of your article or ignore your menu bar. With section targeting , you can help Adsense determine what parts of your content are important so that your site can show more targeted ads.</p>
<p>You’ll have to make sure that the section you want to target contains a significant amount of text, a large enough percentage of your overall content. To start targeting just enclose the text with</p>
<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;</p>
<p>< !- - <strong>google_adsection_start</strong> - -></p>
<p>your content ads tageting here ( remove spaces )<br />
< !- - <strong>google_adsection_end </strong>- -></p>
<p>You can also designate sections you&#8217;d like to have ignored by adding a (weight=ignore) to the starting tag:</p>
<p>< ! -- google_ad_section_start(<strong>weight=ignore</strong>) &#8212; >&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<br />
That said, you should be aware that section targeting can’t guarantee results and that it is against Google’s program policies to manipulate the ad targeting to result in ads that are not relevant to the content of your pages. While a few of my pages works well with section targeting and has contributed to the increase in my AdSense income, other pages remain unaffected and continue to show ads which are not related to the targeted section.Anyway, when applying these tips, more often than not, I’ve seen more relevant AdSense ads starting to appear on my pages.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A quick way to increase your websites income is to add Google’s AdSense ads to your pages. In this article, we will look at some different ways to generate income through AdSense.</p>
<p>If you don’t have an AdSense account just visit Google’s AdSense site and sign up. It’s an easy process.<br />
<a id="more-34"></a><br />
Once you have applied for your Google AdSense membership Google will place ads on your website with keywords delineated by various advertisers and are then matched to the site based on your content. You will make money every time someone who visits your site clicks on one of those ads. (But don’t click the ads yourself; Google will suspend your membership) Google provides you with filters that allow you to decide whose ads you want on your website. You probably don’t want your competition advertising on your site!</p>
<p>Once you get the ads setup it will be good for you evaluate your results and make changes accordingly. If you are willing to invest some time in tweaking it will payoff.</p>
<p>When designing the ads make sure that they blend into the color of your content. This gives the illusion to those visiting your site that the ads support the information that they are reading about. This will lead to more clicks which equals more money.</p>
<p>You may want to consider changing the color of the background and links so that it matches the color on your website. Another advantage you have with color is that you can change it frequently so visitors think there is something new. This helps promote the overall stickiness of your site. You will want those visitors to return again.</p>
<p>Consider using the AdSense ads as captions. When this is done, it draws the eye of the consumer through the text and increases the chances that the ad will be clicked on.</p>
<p>Borders will separate the ads from the content and if that is what you want then fine. Having the boarders will reduce your overall click rate though. Knowing this you should be careful not to use any of the preset borders that often come with AdSense. You will want to customize them.</p>
<p>Check Google’s AdSense Customization Tips for improving your AdSense performance.</p>
<p>Now that you have your website, running with AdSense you may also want to include link units or even image ads. You can see the different ad formats here. When visitors click on link units at your site the link will then take them to sites that have content that is related to your site and this of course will increase the amount of money that you will be bringing in.</p>
<p>You may also want to consider putting a web search box on your site. Google has a search box as part of their Adsense program. This will add greater functionality for your visitors and increase your revenue. The advantage to this is that visitors to your site will not need to leave to do a search for the information they are looking for. The longer your visitors are on your site the greater chance there is of them clicking on one of your ads.</p>
<p>Working online is about having fun as what we do while making money. So enjoy adding another stream of income to what you do. (Trevor Wilson )
